GAME UPDATE
Two Trinkets are good. One stronger Trinket is better! The new Trinket Merger lets you combine two identical Trinkets into one Trinket of the next level, all the way up to the brand-new Level V.
Take two copies of the same Trinket at the same level
and merge them: if the merge succeeds, you get one copy of the next level.
- Two Level I give a Level II.
- Two Level II give a Level III.
- Two Level III give a Level IV.
- Two Level IV give a Level V.
Level V is new, and the Trinket Merger is the only way to get one. Every Trinket family can be merged, including the boss Trinkets of the Forest Trent, so there are now 135 different Trinkets and 108 possible merges. Merging costs no gold and no Golden Apples: only your two Trinkets.
From the main menu:
1. Click your pet ("Click to change your pet") to open the Tamodex.
2. Click one of the three small Trinket slots under a pet card.
3. In the PET TRINKETS window, click the blue MERGE button.
The grid shows one line per Trinket family and one cell for each level you can reach, from II to V. The number on a cell tells you how many free copies of the level below you own: you need at least 2, otherwise the cell stays grey. Hover a cell to see the exact stats of that level.
The panel on the right shows the result, the two copies it costs, and its Difficulty: hover the stars to read your chance of success.
| Merge | Chance | Rarity |
| Level II | 50% | Rare |
| Level III | 25% | Epic |
| Level IV | 10% | Legendary |
| Level V | 5% | Mythic |
If the merge succeeds, your two copies become one Trinket of the next level. If it fails, both copies are destroyed... unless you protect them.
"A thin coat of liquid basalt. The merge may fail, but your trinkets won't crack."
The new Stoneskin Ointment protects your Trinkets: if the merge fails, you keep both copies. The potion is used up whether the merge succeeds or not.
Cook it in the Cooking tab of your Profile with:
- 1 Flask
- 1 Basalt Call Elixir
- 1 Dark Oil Vial
- 1 Woodlouse
Its cooking has a 50% chance of success.
When you merge with an ointment in your inventory, the game asks if you want to use it:
Each level makes the effect of a Trinket stronger... and its drawback too. A few examples:
| Trinket | Level I | Level V |
| Goliath Berry | 10% chance to heal 25 when attacking | 30% chance to heal 65 when attacking |
| Majestic Flower | +15% experience | +31% experience |
| Trentwood Ring | 10% chance to turn 40% of a bite into healing | 18% chance to turn 80% of a bite into healing |
| Firemoss | 5% chance to burn | 13% chance to burn |
Spectrumleaf and Frostguard Gem follow the same steps as the Firemoss, from 5% to 13%, and their chance is even doubled on a Tamon of the matching element. But remember the drawbacks: a Goliath Berry also lowers the attack of your Tamon, by 10% at Level I and by 18% at Level V.
And the Wilted Trinkets? Merging them makes them... worse. As for merging Dead Buds, the Trinketdex only has one question: "Why would you do that?"
Reaching Level V is a real challenge. A few numbers to plan your merges:
- Four successful merges in a row from Level I to Level V: 1 chance in 1,600.
- Without any ointment, a Level V costs on average 25,600 Level I copies!
- With an ointment on every merge, it costs exactly 16 Level I copies, and about 72 ointments.
- With ointments only on the Level IV and V merges: about 128 copies and 40 ointments.
- For a 50% chance to get at least one Level V, plan about 14 tries. For a 90% chance, about 45.
So keep your ointments for the hardest merges, and don't give up after a few failures: failing 20 merges to Level V in a row happens about one time in three!
Each merge plays a short animation with its own success or failure jingle. If you merge a lot, turn on Skip Animations in the settings: it also skips the cooking and crafting animations.
